About Us

Camera 35 currently has approximately 40 members who meet every second Thursday evening from September to June. Club activities include show and tell, critic’s corner, theme competitions, guest speakers, club outings and more. Meeting dates are listed in our calendar and directions to our meeting location can be found here.

Membership in Camera 35 is open to people of all skill levels from amateur photographer to professional. Membership fees are $30 per person ($40 per family) and cover a 12 month period starting in September of each year.

Benefits of club membership include:

  • Improve your photographic skill by showing your photos during meetings and viewing the photos of others. Our show & tell and critic’s corner will help you expand your skills by seeing the work of other photographers as well as allowing you to ask for advice from other members.
  • Enter both in-club and national photo competitions (Canadian Association of Photographic Art).
  • Enter our annual year-end competition. Winners of this competition receive both bragging rights and miscellaneous prizes including gift cards and photographic supplies.
  • Receive discounts at local camera supply shops (10% club discounts are available on many items at Henry’s and Phototec).
  • Listen to informative technical talks on such subjects as HDR, white balance, and the zone system. Regardless of how well you think you know a subject there’s always more to learn!
  • Listen to talks by guest speakers sharing their experience on a particular topic, for example portrait photography or how to photograph birds.
  • Participate in club-organized outings including an annual summer weekend excursion (price of outing not included in membership fee).
