Freshwater Bay

The beach at Freshwater Bay is an approximately 30 minute walk from the parking lot. The walk there is relatively easy (mostly downhill on the way to the beach), but the way back up is a bit of a huff and puff. It’s a wooded trail with some unevenĀ terrainĀ (exposed tree roots, loose rock), and can be a little muddy in places (the worst are covered by a boardwalk). The beach itself is rocky and is covered with parts of an old ship wreck, with a small sandy beach on one side.

Directions

There is a small parking area on the left hand side of the road to Cape Spear, about 2km past Shea Heights, right after Blackhead Crescent rejoins Blackhead Road.
