Last-Chance-II

This attractive little fishing boat was pulled up to the corner of this interesting slipway in Bonavista, NL, Canada. I thought it would make a good opportunity to give the "hot light, cold light" techniques from Dave Black a try.

The largest challenge here was the fact that the shot was taken about mid day. One really does have to pump those Nikon SB’s to get them to light anything!
For Strobist and Nikon CLS here’s the shooting set up…
D200 with 20mm prime. Camera set to Tungsten WB. Camera exposure Aperture Priority – ISO100, f11 @ 250 -1EV. 1 SB800 and 1 SB600 gelled with Nikon Tungsten Gels and both flashes set to remote and +2EV. The flashes are at camera right, about 10 ft from the stern and pointed straight at the stern by M’lady. Sounds complicated, but not really. Have a read over Dave Black’s link.
