Northern Shoveler

My nose isn’t big. I just happen to have a very small head…Jimmy Durante.
I did allude to the Eur. Wigeon (previous in photo stream) being rare in my area, but the Northern Shoveler doesn’t even get on the map for Newfoundland in Sibleys or Petersons. Very much accidental. This female shoveler was hanging about with the other usual Quidi Vidi dabblers ; begging for a handout. It seems to be quite tame and gregarious but gets spooked by sudden movements or noises. The shoveler is slightly larger than a green-wing teal and some of the larger dabblers (blacks and mallards) are inclined to bully the shoveler.
