Participate in Our Elections
Camera 35 St. John's is a volunteer-run photography club that holds annual elections in accordance with its Constitution. Elections are an opportunity for members to shape the direction of the club by selecting an executive team to lead events, activities, and initiatives for the coming year and must be a member in good standing.
Election Process
Each year, the election process follows these key steps:
Call for Nominations A call is issued to all members to nominate individuals for executive positions. Members may nominate themselves or others, with each nomination verified for eligibility as outlined in the Constitution.
Candidate Confirmation and Statements Nominees are contacted to confirm acceptance of their nomination. Confirmed candidates are invited to submit a short statement outlining their interest and vision for the role.
Publication of Candidates Once confirmed, a list of candidates and their statements is shared with the membership.
Voting Voting is conducted online using RCV123, a platform that supports ranked-choice voting. RCV123 allows voters to rank their preferred candidates in order, promoting fair outcomes by minimizing vote splitting and ensuring majority support. The system is anonymous, secure, and prevents duplicate submissions.
Announcement and Transition Voting closes before the final meeting of the club year, at which time the successful candidates are announced. The current executive concludes their term the following day, and the newly elected team assumes their roles.
Have questions? If you need help with nominations, candidate eligibility, or voting, please contact us here and someone from the executive will respond.
